Is there computer access in the Children’s Department?

Yes, there are computers your child may use to access the internet and to game. Parents may use the internet computers when their children are present.

There are also Early Literacy Stations which offer a safe, fun, and educational environment for young learners.

There is also free public Wi-Fi.

1. What programs do you offer in the Children's Department?

The Children’s Department offers a wide variety of programs year round.

2. Can my child attend school-age programs without a parent or guardian present?: Yes, K-6th grade children may be dropped off for school-age programs, and picked up upon completion. Children 4th grade and up may “hang out” unattended in the Children’s Department.

3. Is there computer access in the Children’s Department?

4. What are the behavior expectations in the Children’s Department?

Seating and computers available for children and caregivers only

5. Are food and drinks allowed in the Children’s Department?: Yes, food and drinks are allowed in the Children’s Department per staff discretion. Food and drinks must be in covered containers and you must clean up after yourself when finished.

7. How can my child get a library card?

Library cards are issued to Campbell County residents with proof of current, local address and photo ID. If these are both on a Driver's License, this is acceptable.

The first library card is free of charge to county residents. A parent/guardian signature is required for children under 18 to obtain a card with normal borrowing privileges.

Teens ages 14-17 may obtain a special limited card without a parent/guardian signature. If a photo ID is not available, and valid contact and identification information can be verified, the teen may still obtain a limited card.

Get a Library Card for an Adult (age 18 and over) or Youth (17 and under)
Cards issued electronically are good for 60 days with full library privileges.

8. How many items may my child check out and for how long?

With a regular card, patrons may check out 35 items total. There is a limit of 15 DVDs per card. The check-out times are as follows:

Audio Books: 21 days
AV Equipment: varies
Books: 21 days
CDs: 21 days
DVDs: 7 or 14 days
Magazines: 14 days

9. What if the item I want is not available?: If the item you want is not available, you have several options. You may place the item on hold, request it through inter-library loan, or fill out a purchase request. A staff member will be able to help you with any of these options.

10. Are children’s e-books and e-audiobooks available to download?: Yes! Digital downloads are available through the Libby by OverDrive app. You can also download the WYLDCat mobile app to manage your account on-the-go! You may also sign-up your child for an e-card. This card may be used to check out e-books and e-audiobooks and will accrue no fines.

11. Does the Children’s Department offer any homework help?: Yes, the Children’s Department has materials and resources available to help with your child’s homework needs. You may ask a staff member or visit “Services/Childrens” for resources and additional information.
