Headwaters is a traveling exhibit of aerial photographs captured by photographer and pilot Rita Donham. Wyoming’s vast deserts, mountains and valleys have mesmerized Donham for many years. Capturing the light on terrain features, documenting where the wild rivers are born, and interpreting the lush green velvet hay meadows of Wyoming with her camera is Donham’s vocation.
Emphasis on water as our most precious resource is the exhibit’s main theme. Looking at these images of glaciers, mountains, and rivers helps us understand and appreciate the powerful ancient forces of nature and the fragile current condition of our water resources and climate. Much of our Wyoming landscape has been severely compromised in the past 15 years. These photographs allow us to celebrate the visual resource we have all around us, and help us think about caring for our land, our rivers, and our families. These documentary photographs are a record of the raw beauty of the Cowboy State.
