The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Wyoming is part of the worldwide movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness.
Officers and athletes - the Guardians of the Flame - run the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" to the Opening Ceremonies of Special Olympics competitions. All fundraising proceeds directly benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Wyoming. Most importantly, officers continually interact with Special Olympics athletes and are the primary medal presenters at the area and state competitions.
This year local officers will be participating locally on May 15, 2017, running through town from the Port of Entry to the Fishing Lake with a possible short detour by North Campus to visit the High School Special Olympics Team. If you are interested in purchasing a t-shirt to support our local Special Olympics t-shirt please contact Gina Monk at the Campbell County Sheriff's Office or Dan Stroup with the Gillette Police Department.
