Tuesday, June 28, 2022
The Campbell County Rockpile Museum will be hosting several programs on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 to celebrate the 25th Infantry Regiment's time in the Powder River Basin. Throughout the 1880's and 1890's elements of the 25th Infantry Regiment would be stationed from Fort Missoula in Montana to Fort Meade in South Dakota. This regiment would appear in the annual Emancipation Day Parades, Balls, and Celebrations from Sheridan, Wyoming to Deadwood, South Dakota.
Join us at 10am, as we will be joined by Living History Interpreter & South Dakota Humanities Scholar, Joyce Jefferson as she will present “Emancipation on Centennial Prairie: A Celebration of Freedom & Family” where she will portray Spearfish, South Dakota Pioneer Rancher, Mary Kercherval (1833-1921). Joyce Jefferson will portray Mary and share the story of her family and how they came to celebrate their freedom in the Black Hills of South Dakota in the 1880’s.
This program is included with the price of regular museum admission and Free for all active members of the Rockpile Museum Association.
