Museum Store Sunday at the Rockpile

Sunday, November 28, 2021

ROCKPILE MUSEUM CELEBRATES MUSEUM STORE SUNDAY WITH SPECIAL HOURS ON NOVEMBER 28TH TO OFFER UNIQUE GIFTS AND ENCOURAGE SHOPPING LOCAL #museumstoresunday On Sunday, November 28, 2021, the Rockpile Museum is thrilled to participate in Museum Store Sunday, a signature annual initiative where museum stores worldwide offer quality gifts filled with inspiration and educational value to consumers. "We are thrilled to participate in this year's Museum Store Sunday event," says Museum Director Robert Henning. "If you have never been into our gift shop this is the time to check it out. We have a wide variety of Wyoming made products, books, educational toys, soaps, jewelry, rocks, calendars, puppets, postcards, glass bottle coke, and more. Shopping in our store supports our mission and puts your dollars back into our community and state. The Rockpile Museum will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and we will have a few light refreshments available for all shoppers.

Blue Anderson, President of the Museum Store Association Board of Directors and Director of Visitor Services for the Columbia River Maritime Museum, continued, “This year it’s more important than ever to support local cultural institutions—many of which have been closed for months due to COVID-19 restrictions. On Museum Store Sunday, we encourage shoppers to ‘Be a Patron’ at their favorite museum stores to not only find inspiring, creative, and educational gifts for friends and family, but to also lend much needed support to these important venues. Whether online or in person, Museum Store Sunday is a wonderful opportunity for consumers around the world to shop local, support artisans and small suppliers, give back to the community, and find unique gifts for loved ones.”

During these uncertain times, shoppers can look forward to Museum Store Sunday as the global annual day to Be a Patron – and shop conscientiously and support museum stores and their missions worldwide. While there is only one Museum Store Sunday each year, everyone is encouraged to Be a Patron of museums and museum stores all year round.

About the Campbell County Rockpile Museum

The Campbell County Rockpile Museum focuses on local and regional history with an emphasis on the culture and people of Campbell County, Wyoming and the Powder River Basin. Our mission: Collect, Preserve, Educate. The Campbell County Rockpile Museum tells the story of the Powder River Basin.

The Rockpile Museum has exhibits about each of the different periods in the history of the Powder River Basin. We house large collections of fossils, Native American artifacts, rifles, saddles, horse-drawn vehicles, and energy industry equipment. Some of our prized artifacts include a sheepherder’s wagon, an original homestead shack, a rural dance hall curtain, and a fossilized tree from 50 million years ago. We have numerous hands-on exhibits for visitors of all ages to touch and learn from. We also have four videos related to the mining, transportation, and use of coal from the local mines. The museum also has a full schedule of temporary exhibits and educational programming each year.

There is something for everyone at the Campbell County Rockpile Museum. Learn more about the museum at our website and search our collections on our online catalog at
