Titling

Title Tips

  • Never buy a vehicle if the seller can't show you the title in his name, unless you can verify that the title is being held by a bank or credit union or other lender.
  • Make sure all previous liens have been properly released. States have different requirements, so it is a good idea to contact us for specific information.
  • Titles made prior to 1/1/2020, all persons whose names are on a Wyoming title must have their signatures notarized. Titles made after 1/1/2020 and have names joined by "or," no conjunction, or a "/" only require one signature UNLESS the letters "JTWROS" appear, in which case all owners must sign in front of a notary.
    • The same rules apply for mobile homes, however the date for that change is 7/1/2022.
  • By state law, the County Clerk issues certificates of title to motorized vehicles, trailers, mobile homes, watercraft, snowmobiles, and MPV's.
  • All out of state titles require a VIN Inspection by a law officer, unless purchased from a Wyoming dealer. Certificate of Origins (brand new) do not require a VIN Inspection.
  • Odometer is required to be carried on all vehicles, 2011 and newer, for 20 years.
