Talking Book Program

The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress, administers this free program that loans recorded, large print and braille books and magazines, and specially designed playback equipment to residents of the United States who are unable to read or use standard print materials because of learning disability, a visual impairment or physical limitations. This program is available through all of the regional offices of Services for the Visually Impaired.

In Wyoming the Talking Books Program is a service of the Wyoming Department of Education.

All library materials are sent and returned through the mail free of charge. Materials can be ordered from large print catalogs, online, or through a trained reader’s advisor.

Recipients of this program must apply through the State of Wyoming Department of Education, Vision Outreach Services.

After registration, library materials and services are available through the Program for the Blind and Disabled at the Utah State Library.
