Duties
The County Attorney’s Office advises and represents the county’s agencies and departments regarding civil issues and provides legal advice on matters relating to county boards.
The County Attorney’s Office also assists the County Treasurer in collecting delinquent taxes.
The County Attorney files involuntary hospitalization proceedings for individuals who are mentally ill and pose a threat to themselves or someone else or are unable to care for their basic needs. These are commonly referred to as Title 25 actions.
