Outreach
Before COVID-19 made DoorDash popular, your library had its own version of door-to-door services. Campbell County Public Library (CCPL) Outreach Services is a lifeline for homebound library patrons. The mission of our Outreach Services Department is to extend your library beyond traditional boundaries through personalized homebound visitation, off-site mini-libraries and programs, or books-by-mail. When you cannot get to the library because of illness, disability, or advancing age, your library is delivered to you.
Campbell County residents are invited to call Outreach Services Specialist Dana Urman at 307.687.9214 or fill out our Outreach Services request form to begin the process of determining which service you qualify for. The next step is a personal interview with Dana to find out your likes and dislikes in reading or listening materials. Her 26 years of outreach experience at CCPL have fine-tuned her ability to search our collection for library materials that match your preferences. Qualified patrons receive a home visit from Dana once per month to deliver and pick up materials such as large print books, books on CD, magazines, and DVDs. She always has time for a friendly chat about your latest read, to find out what you want to read next, or to lend a caring ear for concerns of the day. Dana also provides assistance to homebound patrons with setting up and troubleshooting electronic devices and help with genealogy research questions.
CCPL’s Outreach Department also maintains mini-libraries in senior apartment complexes such as Primrose, Cottonwood Terrace, and Pioneer Apartments. Complex residents can check out books to enjoy without having go to the library and Dana stocks the mini-libraries with patron’s favorite authors and genres on request. Monthly book discussions are also hosted at the apartment complexes as well as at the Campbell County Senior Center. These discussions offer a great opportunity for book lovers to get to know their neighbors.
If you qualify for our books-by-mail program, Dana will give you detailed instructions to easily and smoothly obtain and return library materials through the U.S. Mail. She will also provide you with information about the Wyoming Talking Books program offered by the Wyoming Department of Education, Services for the Visually Impaired.
Give us a call at 307.687.9214 to get signed up for CCPL’s version of DoorDash! As Dana says, “What starts as a simple 30-minute interview about book preferences results in life-long learning and a decades-long friendship.”
